The Nominating Committee shall:
- 1. Be appointed by the President with approval of the Executive Committee. The President
and Vice President are ex-officio members of the Nominating Committee.
- Meet prior to the annual meeting and decide upon one name for vice President and one name
for each Directors term that will expire at the annual meeting. Only Regular Members shall
be eligible to serve as President, Vice President or Director, except for the Graduate Student
Director position. All candidates for the office of President and Vice President must have
been a member of the Mississippi Weed Science Society for at least three years, except
during the initial three years of the Society. Graduate students should have one year of study
remaining to serve as Graduate Student Director.
- Recommend one name for each of the following positions each year:
- Vice President
- Public Sector Director
- Private Sector Director
- Graduate Student Director
- For Vice President, alternate each year between candidates from the public and private
sectors. If a member of the Executive Committee is recommended for Vice President, then
another name should be recommended for that Directors position. It is recommended that
second and third choices for each of the above open positions be made since no member
shall be placed on the ballot by the Nominating Committee without their prior consent.
- Report the recommendations of the Nominating Committee immediately to the President
and Executive Secretary after candidates have consented to be placed on the ballot. The
recommendations of the Nominating Committee will be presented at the Annual Business
Meeting by the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. A written report covering all
activities of the Nominating Committee shall be presented at the annual business meeting.
